About

MP Materials was founded to acquire Mountain Pass when the site was idle and on the brink of closure. Since then, we have restored the full rare earth supply chain in America. Our journey began with a bold vision and an unshakable belief in American resolve. When others saw a challenge too great, we saw a generational opportunity to reignite a vital industry. Rebooting Mountain Pass in 2017 was more than a business decision—it was a commitment to restoring American leadership in critical materials. Our mission is to restore the full rare earth supply chain in the United States, and our vision is to lead the reinvigoration of the American manufacturing spirit. We cultivate a culture of empowerment, entrepreneurship, integrity, results, safety, and unwavering determination.

Mountain Pass contains one of the richest deposits of rare earth elements in the world and is the only site of its scale in the Western Hemisphere. The facility’s integrated operations offer significant cost and production advantages all while rigorous waste reduction, water stewardship, and materials recycling efforts help minimize our environmental impact and preserve ecological diversity. Today, MP Materials produces more than 10% of world's rare earth supply. With our re-commissioned processing facilities, we now deliver separated and refined products, including high-purity NdPr oxide, the cornerstone of the world’s strongest and most efficient permanent magnets.
