Mineral resource
In September 2023, Jaguar acquired the Onças de Pitangui project from IAMGOLD. The project is located approximately 110 kilometres northwest of the city of Belo Horizonte in Minas Gerais State, Brazil, and it comprises mineral exploration licenses and license applications covering the Archean-aged Pitangui greenstone belt, located near the Company’s MTL Complex in the Iron Quadrangle. Gold mineralization is hosted by a series of parallel and complexly-folded horizons of banded iron formation (BIF) separated by mafic volcanic and minor sedimentary units within the lower greenstone belt stratigraphy. Within the iron formations, gold mineralization is associated with sulphide replacement of primary magnetite bands, characterized by the presence of pyrrhotite and lesser amounts of arsenopyrite, pyrite, and chalcopyrite. Drilling to date has identified two main mineralized horizons, referred to as “Biquinho” and “Pimentao”, which occur approximately 100 metres apart vertically.
Projects
["The MTL Complex includes the Turmalina gold mine and processing plant, three satellite deposits (Faina, Pontal, and Zona Basal), and the Onças de Pitangui Project and is located 110 kilometres west of the city of Belo Horizonte.","Turmalina is an underground gold mine that predominantly utilizes sub-level stoping as a mining method. Backfilling is completed using loose rockfill or cemented paste depending upon the situation. The Turmalina mine consists of several zones grouped into four orebodies - Orebodies A, B, and C. Two other individual deposits, Faina and Pontal, are located along strike to the northwest. The Turmalina processing plant is onsite, has a 3,000 tonnes per day grinding capacity, and is located within 200 metres of the C-zone portal.","Faina is a new underground ore body located just west of the Turmalina mine within the MTL Complex. Lateral development reached the Faina ore body at the end of 2023 and first tonnage milled occurred in the second quarter of 2024. The incremental production from Faina will fill existing capacity and increase the throughput of the processing facility at the MTL complex.","The Paciência Complex was placed on care and maintenance in May 2012. The complex is located 80 kilometres by tarmac road southeast of Belo Horizonte and close to the Company’s two operating assets (Caeté plant and Pilar mine) in the prolific Iron Quadrangle of Minas Gerais. The complex includes two underground gold mines, Santa Isabel and Marzagão, and a processing plant with capacity to treat approximately 2,000 tpd, located within approximately 9,000 hectares of contiguous permitted mining tenements. The plant was commissioned in April 2008 and the mine produced approximately 154,000 ounces of gold through May 2012, based on approximately 1,755,000 ore tonnes processed, averaging a gold grade of 3.06 g/t and a recovery of about 89%.","At current gold prices, the Company is evaluating options to bring back online the Santa Isabel mine which is already fully permitted. Ore would initially be hauled to the Caeté plant which is approximately 35 kilometres away."]
