With over 500 theaters globally, the company draws in a diverse audience that seeks more than just a standard movie—they crave immersive, memorable experiences that transport them into the heart of the story. As CEO Sean Gamble puts it, \"our mission and purpose is to enrich lives, build community, and transport people to amazing new worlds.\"\n\nCinemark's audiences expect every visit to offer a fresh, captivating experience that goes beyond traditional movie viewing. This focus on creating unique, meaningful entertainment has been at the core of Cinemark’s strategy, ensuring that each film is an event in and of itself.\n\nCHALLENGE: MEETING MODERN DEMANDS\nAs home entertainment options and streaming services became more prevalent, Cinemark recognized the need to offer something beyond the standard movie experience to remain competitive. They faced increasing pressure to differentiate themselves by delivering an experience that couldn't be replicated at home.\n\n“We know [that] with the experience economy and how consumers are changing, that they want to ‘eventize’ and have everything bigger than life when they leave their home,” explained Wanda Gierhart, Cinemark’s Global Chief Marketing & Content Officer.\n\nTo meet this challenge, Cinemark sought to create engaging, immersive experiences that would make each visit memorable. Ultimately, the goal was to elevate every screening into an event, turning casual viewers into loyal customers. They wanted to integrate new technologies that would not only help them accomplish their goal, but that could also seamlessly blend into its existing theater operations and provide them with a strong ROI.\n\nSOLUTION: ELEVATING THE CINEMATIC EXPERIENCE WITH D-BOX HAPTIC TECHNOLOGY\nTo meet the demand for immersive movie experiences that can be integrated into their existing infrastructure, Cinemark turned to D-BOX's cutting-edge haptic technology, which uses a unique combination of movements, vibrations and textures to immerse moviegoers into their movies.\n\nD-BOX worked closely with Cinemark to ensure a smooth integration of their motion seats into select theaters, providing audiences with a multi-sensory experience that goes beyond sight and sound. With each title being hand-coded by D-BOX haptic designers, their motion seats are perfectly synchronized to the action on-screen and plunge moviegoers into the adventure!\n\nAs Gamble highlighted, flexibility was one of the big selling points for Cinemark.\n\n“We appreciate the opportunity to place D-BOX seats where they’ll perform best,” he explained.\n\nThis tailored approach allowed Cinemark to deliver premium entertainment while maintaining the flexibility required to meet the unique demands of each auditorium and of each theater.\n\nRESULTS: A NEW ERA OF MOVIE EXPERIENCES\nCinemark successfully leveraged D-BOX technology to establish itself as a premier destination for moviegoers seeking an elevated movie experience. By integrating motion seats, Cinemark transformed each viewing into an engaging event that keeps audiences coming back for more. As Gamble praised, “D-BOX is an exceptional amenity that helps with increased immersion.”\n\nThe installation of these D-BOX seats truly proved to be both efficient and unobtrusive. Damian Wardle, EVP of Theater and Technical Operations at Cinemark, commended the process.\n\n“It’s very seamless, with no interruption to theater operations,” he explained. “We don’t ever have an auditorium under construction so we can deploy D-BOX essentially at any time. Giving guests what they want and enhancing the movie as well as making a nice revenue return, that’s a win-win.\n\nThe success of the initial D-BOX installations led to a massive, expanded partnership with D-BOX. Cinemark has integrated the technology into additional locations throughout the United States, reinforcing its position as a leading in providing immersing movie experiences.\n\n“We’re constantly evaluating opportunities to add more D-BOX seats to keep movie fans coming back to Cinemark theaters for captivating experiences that cannot be found at home,” said Justin McDaniel, SVP of Global Content Strategy & Analysis.","Bell 206 Helicopter Simulator\nD-BOX Technologies, Ryan Aerospace, Precision Flight Control and Quantum3D combine expertise and technologies to fly the Bell 206 helicopter simulator into uncharted territory.\n\nCONTEXT: LOTS OF INDUSTRY COMPETITION\nWith so many companies competing for everyone’s attention at I/ITSEC 2016, standing out from the crowd is a challenge that most exhibitors have a hard time with. Of course, flashy display booths, colorful visuals and slick pamphlets are all fine, but to truly separate yourself from the herd, you need something unexpected and different. D-BOX Technologies, Ryan Aerospace, Precision Flight Controls and Quantum3D may have raised the bar this year.\n\nAfter years of making their mark on the industry, these highly innovative companies have teamed up to build a new Bell 206 helicopter pilot trainer that is built into a very realistic frame.\n\nThis versatile and easy-to-adapt prototype combines D-BOX’s state-of-the-art motion-cueing technology with visual realism from Quantum3D, a California-based developer and manufacturer of real-time visual simulation systems. They made their Independence® IDX 80 Image Generator available for this advanced avionic training device by connecting via CIGI (Common Image Generator Interface) to tremendously augment the visualization quality. The result is a visual immersion that is extremely realistic.\n\nCHALLENGE: MAKE THE SIMULATOR STAND OUT\nFor D-BOX, the objective was clear from the start: to bring the simulator to life by meticulously replicating all the appropriate motion cues specific to the Bell 206 in order recreate real-life flight sensations for the pilot and co-pilot. In addition to being a two-seater prototype, it needed to stand out as it would be the first simulator that utilizes the skills, experience and talent from three innovative companies to bring state of the art immersion solutions to the industry.\n\nWith versatile software and ease of deployment, the prototype would be used to train pilots in the medic, army and evacuation services.\n\nSOLUTION: WORK WITH PARTNERS TO CREATE A CUSTOM & DETAILED SIMULATOR\nAll four companies worked together to create the best experience for trainees of the Bell 206 helicopter.\n\n“A quality training experience always depends on maximizing the level of realism and immersion within the simulator, regardless of the price-point,” explained Jan Bjernfalk, VP of products at Quantum3D.\n\n“D-BOX enables the use of realistic motion in low-cost applications previously unimaginable, and it’s why we felt it’s a perfect match for our award-winning and highly scalable MANTIS® image generation software.”\n\n“D-BOX enables the use of realistic motion in cost-sensitive applications previously unimaginable, and it’s why we feel it’s a perfect match for our flight training devices,” added Mike Altman, CEO & President of Precision Flight Controls.\n\nTogether, the four companies came together to build a Bell 206 helicopter simulator.\n\nRESULTS: MORE COMPACT, RELIABLE & ACCESSIBLE TRAINING\nGiven the overall growing budget deficits in the industry and market needs for improved systems, the fact that the Bell 206 simulator utilizes COTS Solutions from the training and simulation industry definitely gives it added value.\n\n“Working with Quantum3D and Precision Flight Controls was a satisfying experience for us on so many levels and only demonstrated the potential of what can be achieved when you bring together some of the best minds and technologies in the industry,” said Yannick Gemme, the Vice President of Sales at D-BOX. “The high reliability and low risk of our COTS motion-cueing system translates into less downtime and better performance characteristics. Plus, it integrates seamlessly with the world’s best simulation applications, which ultimately results in substantial cost savings.”\n\n“The D-BOX design allows our simulators to take up much less room than our competitors, and space is always a consideration when purchasing a motion-based simulator.”\n\nThese simulators are filling a need within the market and are solving some of the main challenges the flight training industry is facing. For the most part, training platforms are far from stimulating for pilots. By combining optimum hardware with the best visuals and the finest motion cueing into one integrated solution, we have created a highly immersive, exciting solution that is very accessible, extremely effective and easy to adopt by trainees."]
