Black mass contains high-value critical battery-grade materials such as graphite, nickel, cobalt, manganese, copper, and lithium. When recovered efficiently, these elements can be recycled to produce new lithium-ion batteries, reducing dependence on newly mined resources and supporting the growth of a sustainable circular economy. In controlled trials, Battery X Metals’ proprietary process has achieved graphite recoveries exceeding 98%, metal-oxide purities up to 96%, graphite concentrate grades of approximately 76%, and overall metal-oxide recoveries of approximately 53% under mild, low-chemical, and low-energy conditions.
